ETHICAL GUIDELINES & ROLES

We have developed some etchical guidelines for you who participate in courses, conferences and get-togethers; as a mentor or in other ways are associated with Musikkontoret Brak and Bergen Songs. We want our events to be a safe arena for everyone.

ETHICAL GUIDELINES

Show respect for the identity and privacy of others. Avoid using offensive terms.

Be aware of your role, position and status. Do not abuse your power over others, especially people with little experience in the industry.

Unwanted touching, spreading of offensive material etc. is not accepted.

Report if you experience or see sexual harassment. Musikkontoret Brak and Bergen Songs have a duty of confidentiality. If you yourself are notified of unwanted behaviour, you have a duty to treat it seriously.

Have respect for other people's intimate boundaries.

Clarify whether a situation is professional or private, especially when there is an unclear transition between day/evening events or when alcohol is served.

PRODUCERS

  • The producer is expected to be able to track vocals and instrument recordings, as well as beat-making and/or composing the instrumental.

  • "The captain of recordings"

  • The producer must bring their own laptop with DAW (and preferred plugins) and be ready to go as soon as the camp has started.

ARTISTS

  • The Artist is the one who will be releasing the song unless other is agreed upon by the group.

  • The Artist is expected be performing the vocal recordings unless other is agreed upon by the group.

  • The Artist is expected to be contributing with songwriting and composition.

  • The Artist can decide if the finished song is unsuitable for their project.

SONGWRITERS

  • The songwriter is expected to write lyrics and topline and contribute to the composition.

  • The songwriter will mainly be writing songs for the Artist - or someone else - unless other is agreed upon by the group.

EVERYONE

  • Be open to ideas and suggestions from others in the group; and try working together.

  • Be understanding of people's different musical backgrounds and experiences.

  • Be nice to each other and follow our ethical guidelines.
